HBNU’s “Pumdeuri Volunteer Group”
By Park Ji-hyeon Reporter, Junior of English Language and Literature
HBNU has a “Pemdeuri Volunteer Group.” It is a volunteer group that includes students and faculty at HBNU. “Pumdeuri” is a dialect of “pumasi,” which means helping each other with hard work. Through a “contribution project for community,” the group is engaged in various voluntary activities, such as sharing side dishes and one to one mentoring for low-income people and multicultural families, volunteer activities for rural communities, and painting murals. Lim Joon-mook, a dean of students, said “HBNU is conducting various volunteer activities for the community. We will continue activities with students participating and fulfill our duty as a community-centered national university.” As a central national university in Daejeon, HBNU will contribute to the community in various categories, including social service, music concerts and exhibitions.
Students who want to do a variety of volunteer activities in school will have a valuable experience through these volunteer activities.
